Mikalsen Paces Pioneers to Seventh after Two Rounds at Duck Invitational

EUGENE, Ore. – The University of Denver men’s golf team took to the course on Monday for two rounds of the Duck Invitational at the Eugene Country Club hosted by Oregon and was led by a strong outing from senior Petter Mikalsen.

Par for the 7,020-yard course is 71 as head coach Erik Billinger went with the lineup of Mikalsen, Isaac Petersilie, Chris Korte, Jake Kelley, and Troy Dangler for the team scores, while Eric Hagen and Roy Kang went into the event as individuals for DU.

Denver is currently seventh on the team leaderboard with a 15-over 583 through the second round (291-292), tied with Washington State, as Mikalsen owns the second spot on the individual leaderboard with a four-under 138 after the first day (69-69).

Petersilie sits in the 32nd position with a five-over 147 (72-75), while Korte and Kelley both closed with a seven-over 149 after two as Korte had round scores of five-over 76 and two-over 73  followed by Kelley’s three-over 74 and four-over 75.



Dangler rounds out the team performance with a 15-over 157 after two rounds for the 78th spot on the leaderboard (82-75).

Hagan owns a 10-over 152 (77-75) for the 65th spot in the invite, while Kang is 73rd with a 13-over 155 (76-79) to round out the individuals for the Pioneers.

No. 5 Oregon owns the top spot after day one of the invitational with an eight-under 560 (283-277) as Norman Chong (2nd, -4, 138 [70-68]), Wyndham Clark (4th, -3, 139 [70-69]) and Edwin Yi (9th, -1, 141 [70-71]) all own spots within the top-10 on the individual leaderboard.
