STOCKTON, Calif. – The University of Denver men’s golf team finished the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational in 11th place on Saturday. The Pioneers struggled to get things going on the final day of competition, firing a 2-over total as a team.

Overall, the Crimson and Gold finished at even-par as a team at the invite. Meanwhile, No. 22 Santa Clara took the team title at 30-under, four strokes ahead of No. 29 Brigham Young.

Par for the course was 72 at the Reserve at Spanos Park.

Taking the course for head coach Erik Billinger was the lineup of Chris Korte, Jake Kelley, Isaac Petersilie, Eric Hagen and Roy Kang.

Three other Denver players competed as individuals in John Sand, Michael Boylan and Jackson Solem.

“We played the par 5s at 1-over today and that crushed us,” Billinger said. “Chris played well and bounced back from round one and that was great to see. Jackson played and had a top-25 finish in his first collegiate event as well and I am really happy for him.

“Eric and Jake also had some good runs and showed that they are ready to compete hard this spring.”

Korte fired a 2-under (70) for the day, bringing his total to 213, good for a tie for 18th.

Hagen ended the tournament tied for 30th, scoring a total of 215. The sophomore shot a 2-over 74 over his final 18 holes of play.

Kelley closed out in 37th after shooting a 1-over for the day. The Littleton native combined for a 217 during his three rounds on the course.

Kang notched a 2-over 74 for the round, putting him in a tie for 51st.

Petersilie moved up on the final day to a tie for 91st thanks to shooting a 1-over.

Solem shot a 1-under for the round for a second straight afternoon, giving the freshman a top-25 finish in his first collegiate event at 23rd.

Sand tied for 79th in Stockton after shooting a 76 for the day for a total score of 225.
