Denver Set to Compete in the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate

The University of Denver men's golf team continues its spring season on Friday with the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate at the Classic Club in Palm Springs, Calif.

The three-day tournament will feature 18 holes per day, with play wrapping up on Sunday. Each day will open with a double-tee start on holes 1 and 10 at 8 a.m. MT.

In the second competition of the spring, head coach Erik Billinger is going with the lineup of Eric Hagen, Chris Korte, Jake Kelley, Isaac Petersilie and Jackson Solem.



Roy Kang and John Sand will also compete for the Pioneers but as individuals.

Par for the 7,322-yard course designed by Arnold Palmer is 72.

The field will have six teams ranked in the top 50, including No. 14 Texas Tech, No. 15 Cal, No. 21 UCLA, No. 28 Tennessee, No. 36 Kansas and No. 40 TCU.

Earlier this spring, DU finished 17th at the Arizona Intercollegiate, one stroke behind Louisiana Tech.  

Korte highlighted the weekend in Arizona, tying for 53rd with a 16-over par (229).

A few spots behind Korte, was the freshman Solem who tied for 56th. The Littleton, Colo. native shot 17-over.

Student-Athlete Alumni Giving Challenge:

In 2017-18, the University of Denver is holding an alumni giving challenge in an effort to increase student-athlete alumni participation in the Denver Athletics Annual Fund. The sport program with the highest percentage of alumni participation will receive an additional $10,000 of support through the generosity of an anonymous donor.
