Incoming freshman ready to compete in spring season
Nov. 9, 2017
DENVER – The University of Denver men’s golf head coach Erik Billinger announced the addition of Esteban Missura on Thursday. The incoming freshman will join the Pioneers for the spring season in 2018.
The Ecuadorian native comes from Colegio Amerciano de Quito.
“Esteban will bring lots of competitive experience and an incredible work ethic to our program,” Billinger said. “His record in national events is very impressive and I know he will be a tremendous addition to DU Golf. We could not be more excited to have Esteban join us and I look forward to watching him compete.”
Missura took second in the South American Jr. Championship in 2017. He also won the Ecuadorian Jr. Championship on two occasions in 2014 and 2016. He also will participate in the Latin America Championship in January, with the winner receiving an invite to play in the Masters at the Augusta National Golf Club in April.
The 5-foot-8 golfer chose DU because of the terrific coaching, facilities and team environment provided by the program. He also chose the university because of the excellence in academics its offers.
The Crimson and Gold return to the course again for the Arizona Intercollegiate on Jan. 29.
