The Pioneers fall to North Dakota in the 2016 Frozen Four semifinals, on April 7th.

2015-16:
Co-Winner (with Will Butcher) of Denver's Keith Magnuson Award (Best Defensive Player)... Became one of the Top 10 highest-scoring blueliners in program history... Finished second on DU in scoring by a defenseman with 3G-17A-20P (41GP)... Extended NCAA-best 'Iron Man' streak to 147 games... Named to 2015-16 NCHC Academic All-Conference Team on Feb. 17.

2014-15:
Finished second on DU and third in the NCHC in scoring by a defensemen with 5G-21A-26P while skating in all 40 games for the Pios as a junior…  Blocked 55 shots, ranking second on Denver… Opened the season on a five-game point streak (2G-3A-5P)… Registered five multi-point games… Blocked season-high four shots twice (2/28 vs. MU, 3/28 vs. BU)… One of Denver’s 18 Academic All-NCHC honorees.

2013-14:
Received NCHC Academic All-Conference recognition for having a cumulative GPA above 3.0… Named NCHC Defensive Player of the Week on January 4…  Played in all 42 games for the Pioneers, tallying 5G-18A-23P… Netted a pair of game-winning goals (T-3rd, DU)… Tallied 47 shots on goal and 55 blocked shots.

2012-13:
Appeared in 37 games for the Pioneers as a freshman, recording 26 points on six goals and 20 assists… Finished tied for second on the Pioneers with a +12 plus/minus rating… Honored as the 2012-13 Hockey Most Valuable Freshman at the DU Awards Night… Registered seven multi-point games.

Before Denver:
Recorded 14G-66A-80P in 154 career USHL games with Cedar Rapids and Omaha from 2009-12… Named to the USHL All-Star Team in 2011 after registering 3G-27A-30P and a +15 rating in 45 appearances with Cedar Rapids… Registered 15G-64A-79P in 76 career MMHL games with Winnipeg Thrashers from 2007-09… Named Most Valuable Player at the 2009 TELUS Cup (won Silver with Winnipeg)… Member of Team Canada West at the 2009 World U17 Hockey Challenge, tallying 1G-4A-5P in six games played… Won MMHL Championship with Thrashers in 2008.

Son of former Pioneer Tom (1973-76) and Trish Zajac… Brothers Travis (New Jersey Devils), Kelly (Albany Devils) and Darcy (Albany Devils) all play professional hockey… Graduated from George Washington High School (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) in 2010… Chose Denver for its great hockey program, education and tradition of producing NHL players… Career goals are to earn his degree from Denver and go as far in hockey as possible… Enjoys golf, outdoor activities, video games and hanging out with friends.
