Denver Ties Miami, 3-3
Pioneers fall in NCHC overtime

DENVER - The University of Denver Pioneers (18-8-8, 12-6-6-4) tied the Miami University RedHawks (11-18-5, 6-14-4-2), 3-3, with the RedHawks earning the extra point in the conference standings on Saturday at Magness Arena.
Denver saw its three-goal deficit lead erased in the second period and ceded a goal to Phil Knies in NCHC overtime.
Denver jumped to a 3-0 lead by 4:19 of the first period with goals from Jarid Lukosevicius, Ryan Barrow
Barrow extended Denver’s lead less than one (1) minute later after intercepting a pass in the defensive zone and skating the puck the length of the ice for a breakaway goal. Shortly after the Pioneers took a 2-0 lead, Adam Plant’s wrist shot from the left-wing boards
The Pioneers’ lead began to evaporate at 16:45 of the first period when Gordie Green made it 3-1. The RedHawks entered the first intermission trailing by two (2)
The teams were scoreless through the third period and the first overtime.
The Pioneers finished 1/3 on the power play and 2/3 on the penalty kill.
Denver will host Colorado College for the first round of the NCHC playoffs from March 9-11 at Magness Arena.
