Tanner Jaillet Named Mike Richter Award Semifinalist

DENVER - Tanner Jaillet was among 10 semifinalists named for the 2018 Mike Richter Award, which honors the most outstanding goalie in college hockey, Let's Play Hockey and the Herb Brooks Foundation announced on Thursday.

In his senior season, Jaillet has posted a 1.93 goals against average, .926 save percentage and five (5) shutouts through 32 games. In the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC), the Red Deer, Alberta native boasts a league-leading 1.91 GAA, .928 save percentage, which ranks second in the conference, and four (4) shutouts. He enters the postseason with 128 career games played, a school record, and 77 career wins, six (6) wins shy of becoming the winningest goalie in school history. 

After winning the 2017 Mike Richter Award, Jaillet aims to become the first two-time winner in the five-year history of the award. Candidates for the Mike Richter Award are nominated by all 60 Division I coaches. The semifinalists and finalists are selected by a committee of coaches, scouts and members of the media. Criteria for the award includes outstanding skills on the ice and good academic standing with special consideration given to academic achievement and community involvement.

The five (5) finalists for the award will be announced on Thursday, March 22, with the winner presented on Friday, April 6 at the 2018 NCAA Men's Frozen Four in St. Paul, Minn.
