Jackson Named Summit League Defensive Player of the Week

Redshirt-senior Dan Jackson earns first league player of the year award at Denver

2015 (DENVER):

Started all 19 matches for the Pioneers, leading the only unbeaten regular season team in the country…Allowed just eight goals for a 0.40 goals against average…Made 40 saves and finished with a 15-1-3 record…kept 12 cleansheets…NCAA RANKINGS: Third in the country with 0.401 goals against average…10th in the country with a 0.833 save percentage…37th in the country in goalie minutes played with 1794:31.

2014 (UNC ASHEVILLE):

Started in all 17 of UNC Asheville’s matches a year ago, finishing with a GAA of 1.69…Made 118 saves…Finished with a 5-9-3 record and kept three cleansheets. 

2013 (UNC ASHEVILLE): 

Earned 13 starts and played in 18 games…picked up shutout with five saves in 2-0 victory at Presbyterian College (10/09)…stopped career-best 12 shots in near upset of Campbell (10/19)…posted nine saves in 2-1 loss to Wisconsin-Green Bay (10/01)…made five saves in first half of victory over Big South champ Coastal Carolina (11/02). 

2012 (UNC ASHEVILLE): 

Asheville’s starting goalkeeper for most of the season…earned the start in 14 games and played in 15 contests… made four saves in first-half of scoreless tie with Liberty (11-2)…Season-high of 11 saves came in near upset of Radford (10-13)…finished with nine saves vs. Marshall (9-14) and at Coastal Carolina (10-6)…had seven saves vs. USC Upstate (8-27)…finished third in the Big South in saves with 87 and in saves per game at 5.80.

Attended East Chapel Hill High School and played for head coach Zach Haines... All-Conference player his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons...earned All- Region honors junior and senior seasons...played his club soccer for Jeff Negalha and the Triangle United 93 Gold team...was selected to play in the East-West All-Star Game in Greensboro and the Clash of the Carolinas in Charleston, S.C.
