DENVER – The University of Denver men’s soccer team has added Trelleborgs FF forward Dennis Werngren (Hollviken, Sweden) to its 2018 roster, fourth-year head coach Jamie Franks announced on Monday.

Dennis’ on-field work rate and persistence is what initially attracted us to him,” Franks said. “After watching him play, it was clear that Dennis is a self-aware individual who understands what role and skill sets he brings to a team. He scores goals through his pace and power. The timing of his movement makes him difficult to defend and his resiliency to continue to make runs creates chances for not only himself, but for others around him. We will look to Dennis to score goals and contribute to the team right away.”

Werngren joins Denver’s roster coming off three seasons in the Trelleborgs FF Academy at the U-17, U-19 and U-21 levels.

Denver’s newest attacking threat has made five appearances for the U-19s in 2018, scoring four goals and adding an assist, while also making his fourth-career appearance with the U-21s. In 2017, Werngren scored 11 goals and distributed four assists in 18 matches with the U-19s, while scoring four goals in three CAPs with the U-21s. Werngren made 25 appearances with the Treeleborgs’ U-17s in 2016, finding the back of the net 15 times and adding 10 helpers.

Werngren joins Callum Stretch and six additional February additions as the newcomers on Franks’ squad heading into the 2018 season.
