DENVER – The University of Denver men’s soccer team will face second-seeded [2/2] Wake Forest in the NCAA College Cup semifinals this Friday, Dec. 9, at 4:05 p.m. MT in BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston. The sixth-seeded [4/3] Pioneers advanced to their first College Cup behind an 89th-minute header from junior centerback Kortne Ford (Greeley, Colo.) to defeat third-seeded [3/5] Clemson at Historic Riggs Field in the quarterfinals.
This weekend’s matchup between DU and the Demon Deacons is a reunion special between the head coaches as Jamie Franks was an assistant for three years under Bobby Muuss before Muuss departed for Wake Forest after the 2014 season. Franks also enjoyed a successful playing career for the Demon Deacons from 2005-08 and coached for the Deacs with his final stint coming as a volunteer coach from 2011.
