Denver Falls to Nebraska, 4-3

The University of Denver Pioneers (3-5, 1-1) fell to the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers, 4-3, on Friday at the Dillon Tennis Center in Lincoln, Neb.

After winning the doubles point, the Pioneers dropped four of six singles matches. Nebraska won the first doubles match of the day, but Denver responded with victories from Jesse Ruder-Hook and Matt Summers at No. 1 doubles and Pedro Fernandez Del Valle and Mattia Ros at No. 2 doubles to secure the first team point.

On the singles courts, Summers and Ignatius Castelino posted victories for Denver with Summers winning 7-6, 6-4 at No. 3 and Castelino winning 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4.

Denver returns to its home court on March 4 against Illinois State.

The University of Denver is holding an alumni giving challenge for the 2017-2018 season in an effort to increase student-athlete alumni participation in the Denver Athletics Annual Fund. The sport with the highest percentage of alumni participation will receive an additional $10,000 of support through the generosity of an anonymous donor.
