Eberly Promoted to Associate Head Coach

DENVER – University of Denver men’s tennis assistant Drew Eberly has been promoted to associate head coach, third-year head coach Ricardo Rubio announced. 

Eberly was named the ITA Mountain Region Assistant Coach of the Year in 2016, following Denver’s second of three Summit League Championships during Eberly’s time with the program. 

“I am very excited for our program to have Coach Eberly being promoted to associate head coach,” Rubio said.  “He has shown his passion, ambition and knowledge over the last three years. It has been a privilege to work alongside him and he is ready to take on more roles and responsibilities. Our players are extremely lucky to have a coach that has such an extensive knowledge in our sport and I certainly look forward to continue to work with him.”

Prior to his time at Denver, Eberly was an Illinois State Singles Champion and All-American at Lake Forest High School. During his collegiate career at Ohio State, Eberly was a doubles All-American in 2008 and finished in the top-10 in combined wins (singles and doubles) in Ohio State history. A two-time captain with the Buckeyes, Eberly was also an ITA Midwest Regional doubles champion in 2007.

“I want to thank Ricardo, athletic director Ron Grahame, Vice Chancellor Peg Bradley-Doppes and the rest of the athletic administration for having the confidence in me to promote me to associate head coach,”Eberly said. “I’m truly grateful to have the opportunity to work in this program, and I will do my best to continue to work with Ricardo and keep this team performing at a high level. We’re both looking forward to getting this season started next week.”



Rubio, Eberly and the Pioneers will begin the invitational portion of their 2017-18 season in Philadelphia, September 15-17.
