Freshman guard Lauren Loven compiled 13 points on the afternoon to go along with three steals while senior forward Jesse Spittel added 10 points and six boards.

Senior guard Jacqlyn Poss and freshman guard Briana Johnson each added six points for the Pioneers.

Junior guard Ciera Morgan gave the Pioneers their first lead of the game in the first quarter, swiping the ball from the Jaguars and taking it coast-to-coast, laying it in for two, 4-3 at the eight minute mark of the first period.

With just over two minutes to play in the first period, Johnson and sophomore guard Samantha Romanowski would perfectly execute the give-in-go, with Johnson finishing and cutting the Jaguars’ lead to five at 13-8.

Loven started the second quarter strong, grabbing a steal and taking it to the other end, knocking down a three and bringing Denver within four at 17-13 one minute into the quarter.

Two plays later, Loven would hit a long jumper, tying the game at 17-all with 7:31 to play in the half.

From there, freshman guard Haley Simental drew the foul along the sideline, and executed the sideline out of bounds play to perfection, stopping and popping from the top of the key, draining the three. The Pioneers trailed by three, 23-20 with five to play in the half.

Three straight turnovers for Denver resulted in buckets for IUPUI, and they would take a 10 point lead, 31-21 with 2:26 to play in the half.

The Jaguars went on a 15-1 run to close out the first half, taking a 40-24 lead into the locker room.

IUPUI opened the second half on another run, this time a 10-0 run, taking a 50-24 lead with 7:57 to play in the third period before Denver would call a timeout.

Spittel and Johnson would break the scoring drought, on a screen and roll with Spittel finishing for two.

The Jaguars took their largest lead of the game at 31 points with one minute to go in the third period, 62-31.

The fourth period would be much of the same, highlighted by a bucket from senior forward Tori Bryant.
