Feb. 19, 2018

Summit League Release

DENVER –University of Denver women’s basketball guard Lauren Loven was named the program’s first-ever Summit League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week in a release by the league on Monday.

The sophomore helped lead DU to a 2-0 record this week, securing the program’s first winning season since 2012.

Loven picked up her first career Summit League Player of the Week honor and she is the first player from Denver to ever earn the title.

The guard was a star this past week for the Crimson and Gold, chalking up a game-high 22 points in a 70-54 win over Oral Roberts on Thursday. She then followed that performance with 15 points and three rebounds in an 81-60 victory over Omaha on Saturday.

For the week, Loven averaged 18.5 points, shooting 45.8 percent (11-for-24) from the field and 46.7 percent (7-for-15) from deep. She also tallied 2.5 boards per contest, with only one turnover per game.

Loven also carded Madness Summit Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, becoming the first Pioneer to earn the accolade since Jacqlyn Poss in 2016.

DU closes out its regular season on Saturday, when the Pioneers host Western Illinois at 1 p.m. MT.
