Anna Jackson Set to Become a Pioneer

May 14, 2018

DENVER – The University of Denver women’s basketball head coach Jim Turgeon announced the signing of incoming freshman Anna Jackson on Monday.

The 6-foot wing and Overland Park, Kan. native played the previous four seasons at Flower Mound High School in Flower Mound, Texas. While at Flower Mound High School, Jackson led the team in scoring, rebounds and deflections in each of the previous two seasons and averaged 15.2 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game as a senior.

“We feel really lucky to get somebody of Anna’s talent level this late in the 2018 recruiting class,” said Turgeon. “She is a tall guard that can shoot it and drive it, but I really think she could be an elite defender in the Summit League.”

In her final year, Jackson scored 10-plus points per game in 31 of 32 games and had 15 double-doubles. Jackson is a two-time team MVP, a two-time first-team all-district honoree and was the District 5-6A MVP during the 2017-18 season. Additionally, Jackson was recognized as TABC All-Area Region 1-6A, TABC Academic All-State, TCGA All-State, and was a Dallas Morning News All-Area team honorable mention.

Outside of basketball, Jackson was a member of both the National Junior Honor Society and student council.

Jackson joined DU because of its reputation for academics and competitive athletics as well as her belief in the coaching staff’s vision for the program.
