July 18, 2017
DENVER – Former University of Denver women’s basketball team standout Jacqlyn Poss announced Monday that she signed to play with the Basket ESCH in Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg. The former Pioneer guard will join the team in late August.
Poss averaged a team-high 13.6 points per game on 41.4 percent shooting from the floor last year. The Shoreview, Minn. native also dished out 60 total assists in 30 games played while playing some point guard for the first time since her sophomore campaign.
“I am thrilled to be taking the next step in my basketball career,” Poss said. “I am thankful for the University of Denver for providing me with an incredible four years here to get me to this point in my basketball career.”
The ESCH are currently looking to change their style for the upcoming, going with more of an up-tempo pace, which has become the new norm in today’s game. Poss’ free-flowing style from her senior season should make for a smooth transition into the European game.
“Being in a fast system will allow me to transfer my developed skills from my time here into the pro game over there while being able to adapt to a different speed and level of competition,” Poss said. “I look forward to the challenges and competition ahead.”
Regular-season action begins in early October and consists normally of 26 games that end in April with tournament play.
“I couldn’t be more excited to represent DU on an international stage and take my game to the next level,” Poss added. “Thank you to everyone who has been a part of my journey here at the University of Denver.”
