Denver Basketball Holds Annual Media Day

- University of Denver basketball teams held their joint annual media day on Monday in the Champions Room. Members of the press were in attendance as both head coaches Rodney Billups and Jim Turgeon talked about the state of their programs heading into the upcoming season.

Turgeon, entering his first year with the program, talked about the excitement of leading a new program and beginning a new season here at DU. He also spoke about implementing his style and seeing development from his squad early on.

Billups talked about entering year two as a head coach and some of the challenges he expects to face. The Denver native spoke of wanting to continue to play at a faster pace and the continued growth of the team as a whole.

Men’s basketball starts the year with UC-Irvine on Nov. 12 in Magness Arena. The Anteaters are coming off a 21-win season in 2016-17.

Women’s basketball hits the road for a meeting with Air Force on Nov. 10 for its season opener before coming back home to play on Nov. 12 against Northern Colorado.

Student-Athlete Alumni Giving Challenge:
In 2017-18, the University of Denver is holding an alumni giving challenge in an effort to increase student-athlete alumni participation in the Denver Athletics Annual Fund. The sport program with the highest percentage of alumni participation will receive an additional $10,000 of support through the generosity of an anonymous donor.
