No. 24 Denver Closes Out Fall in 4th at #MKauth2017
Pioneers finish ahead of four top-40 teams in Golfstat rankings

SAN ANTONIO – The No. 24 University of Denver women’s golf team closed out the fall portion of its 2017-18 season on a high note, taking fourth at the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational on Tuesday. The Pioneers posted a team score of 293 (5-over) on the last day of play.
DU’s solid final round brought its 54-hole total to 870 (6-over) for the tournament.
Par for the 6,450-yard course was 72.
No. 1 Arkansas took home the team title with a score of 22-under, 18 strokes ahead of Texas A&M and Texas Christian.
“It was a really windy day out there,” Lapa said. “I am proud of the Pios for fighting all day long. We finished really strong which propelled us into a top-4 finish.”
“This fall was one of the best in my collegiate career both player and coach wise. I couldn’t be happier for this team and excited for the spring season to get here.”
Weinstein finished out her fall in a tie for 12th after shooting a 1-over 73 on Tuesday, bringing her three-round total to 1-over.
Newlove kept up her consistent play in her final go-around of the fall, firing an even-par 72 on the afternoon to finish in a tie for 15th.
Whyte wrapped up her final 18 holes of the tournament with a 5-over 77, dropping her into a tie for 17th with fellow teammate Dreesbeimdieke, who closed with a 72 on the scorecard.
Enright tied for 65th after shooting a 4-over, her lowest in the three-day event.
Denver returns the course for the dual with defending national champion Arizona State on Jan. 28.
