Pioneers and Sun Devils Set for Top-20 Showdown

Jan. 27, 2018

DENVER – The 20th-ranked University of Denver women’s golf team opens the spring season with a dual against No. 6 Arizona State on Sunday. The Pioneers will take on the defending national champions for an 18-hole competition.

Play will be held at Superstition Mountain’s 7,225-yard, par-72 Prospector Course.

Head coach Lindsay Kuhle is going with the lineup of Lauren Whyte, Jessica Dreesbeimdieke, Sophie Newlove, Mary Weinstein and Camille Enright.

Freshman Anni Heck will also compete, but as an individual.

DU is coming off a strong showing at the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational back on Oct. 22, finishing fourth in a talented field that featured then-No. 1 Arkansas.

The Crimson and Gold head into the spring as the team to beat in the Summit League, being picked number one in the preseason poll.

Whyte and Newlove were tabbed by the league as “Golfers to Watch”.
