SUMMIT LEAGUE RELEASE
This marks the fourth straight year that Kuhle has taken home the award.
“It is quite an honor to receive this award and it is all in part to do with my team and wonderful assistant coach,” Kuhle said. “Our players worked extremely hard to excel on the course and in the classroom this year.”
DU is coming off winning its fourth straight league championship this past season. The Crimson and Gold have won the league title every year since joining back in 2013 under Kuhle’s watch. Overall, Denver’s streak of winning a league/conference championship now sits at 14 straight.
“We improved this season to be playing our best team golf before and during the postseason and it is because of our players’ passion, competitiveness and work ethic to achieve the goals they set out to accomplish at the beginning of this year,” added Kuhle. “We had incredible leadership out of our two seniors and upperclassmen this year and grew a lot. It was a fun season for me to coach the team and see the growth we had by all team members.
“I'd like to thank the Summit League coaches for voting and my team, and last but not least, my assistant coach Kolton Lapa. We wouldn't be the team we were this year without Kolton's passion for teaching, coaching and genuine love for the game of golf.”
The Pioneers had three players earn All-Summit League honors under Kuhle this past season. Seniors Jessica Carty and Mariell Bruun each were selected to the first team, while Lauren Whyte was named to the second team.
DU also finished the year 12th at the NCAA Regional in Albuquerque on May 10, its best finish since 2010.
Denver will return to action in the fall of 2017.
