Women’s Golf has Six Named to WGCA All-American Scholar Team

July 5, 2017

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – The University of Denver women’s golf team had a record six golfers named to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team on Wednesday in a release by the WGCA.

Jessica Carty, Jessica Dreesbeimdieke, Sonya Knebel, Katharina Baratta, Sophie Newlove and Camille Enright all made the team.

For Dreesbeimdieke, it marks her third selection. Both Baratta and Newlove each now have two selections. Knebel, Carty and Enright all earned their first selections.

“What a great honor for a record six of our players to be named to the academic all-scholar list for this past season,” head coach Lindsay Kuhle said. “Our golfers excel not only on the course but in the classroom and work extremely hard to be competitive in both arenas.

“I am extremely proud and appreciative of their dedication to both this past season and for Sonya and Jess D[reesbeimdieke] to earn a perfect 4.0 this year is remarkable.”

Criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.5 for the year.
