No. 26 Denver Set to Host Ron Moore Women's Intercollegiate

Oct. 5, 2017

DENVER – The No. 26-ranked University of Denver women’s golf team is set to hold its annual Ron Moore Women’s Intercollegiate on Friday. The 54-hole tournament will feature 13 teams from around the country.

The 54-hole tournament will be played at the Pioneers’ home course of Highlands Ranch Golf Club.

Par for the 6,450-yard course is 72.

Defending champion Pepperdine returns this year along with four other teams ranked in the top 50 of the Golfweek rankings.

DU heads into the tournament after locking up their first victory of the year last week at the Golfweek Conference Challenge. The Crimson and Gold finished second last year in this tournament and won it back in 2015.

Last year’s individual medalist Sophie Newlove is back for Denver, who is primed for another stellar effort on its home course.

Interim head coach Kolton Lapa is going with the lineup of Newlove, Lauren Whyte, Mary Weinstein, Jessica Dreesbeimdieke and Camille Enright.

Maggie Cowart, Sonya Knebel, Anni Heck and Caroline Klemp will also be competing, but as individuals.

Whyte is coming off her best performance of the young season, tying for 11th at the Golfweek Conference Challenge with a score of 1-over.
