After one of the most successful careers in Denver Gymnastics history, Lopez returns to DU as Volunteer Assistant Coach for the 2018 season.

Lopez competed for Denver from 2006-09, earning five All-American honors across three NCAA National Championships appearances. In total, she won 83 individual titles during her career, which is currently the second-most in DU program history.

In 2009, she qualified for the NCAA National Championships as an individual all-around competitor and entered the meet as the top-ranked gymnast. She advanced to event finals on vault where she finished sixth.

At the 2007 NCAA National Championships, she tied for first on beam and tied for third on floor in DU's semifinal, advancing her to event finals on both events.

Representing her home country of Venezuela, Lopez has competed at three Olympic Games (2008, 2012, 2016). At the 2016 Rio Olympics, she finished seventh overall in the all-around--the highest-ever finish for a Venezuelan gymnast--and advanced to the uneven bars event final where she placed sixth--also a record-finish for a Venezuelan gymnast.
