Gymnastics Holds Annual Crimson & Gold Exhibition

Dec. 16, 2017

DENVER – The University of Denver women’s gymnastics team held its annual Crimson & Gold Exhibition on Saturday in front of a large and loud crowd in Hamilton Gymnasium.

Sophomore Maddie Karr (Stillwater, Minn.) posted a 39.525 in the all-around, bolstered by a 9.900 on beam and 9.875s on the other three events. Freshman Lynnzee Brown (Kansas City, Mo.) also competed in the all-around, earning a 39.375 after scoring 9.900s on both bars and floor.

DU also saw a 9.900s on bars from freshman Mia Sundstrom (Boulder, Colo.) and junior Diana Chesnok (Charlotte, N.C.). The team’s highest score on vault was Karr’s 9.875. She also tied for the bars title and took the win on beam. Brown had DU’s top score on floor with her 9.900.

Saturday’s event provided the Pioneers with the opportunity to perform routines in front of judges and a crowd for the first time this year to help them prepare for the 2018 season. Denver opens on the road in a quad meet at Arizona with New Hampshire and Rutgers on January 6 before hosting its home opener on January 14 in Magness Arena against Air Force.

DU will enter 2018 ranked No. 8 in the preseason coaches’ poll—the highest-ever preseason ranking in program history. It comes on the heels of the highly successful 2017 season that saw the Pioneers advance to the NCAA National Championships and finish with a program-best final national ranking of No. 9.

Season tickets for the 2018 season are now available online or by calling 303-871-4625. New for 2018, season ticket holders have the opportunity to reserve their seats in Hamilton Gymnasium with chair backs for $45. Season tickets without chair backs are $35. Single-meet tickets begin at $9 and are also available online.
