National Rankings

DENVER - After the first week of competition, the University of Denver women's gymnastics team maintains its No. 8 national ranking in Monday's Road to Nationals rankings. DU was also ranked No. 8 in the preseason coaches' poll.

During Saturday's meet at Arizona, DU posted a 195.775, which is the program's third-highest score in a season opener.

As a team, Denver holds top 10 rankings on three of the four events. DU is No. 2 in the nation on vault (49.225), which is the highest the program has ever been ranked on the event, topping a No. 3 ranking in 2005. The Pioneers are also No. 4 on beam (49.125)--the second-highest DU has ever been ranked--and No. 6 on floor (49.150).

In total, four Pioneers hold top 25 individual rankings as well, led by sophomore Maddie Karr (Stillwater, Minn.), who is the No. 1-ranked gymnast on vault (9.925). Karr also holds a tie for No. 3 in the all-around (39.500), a tie for No. 4 on beam (9.900) and a tie for No. 22 on bars (9.850).

Freshman Lynnzee Brown (Kansas City, Mo.) is tied for No. 2 on vault (9.900), tied for No. 6 on floor (9.900), is No. 7 in the all-around (39.425) and is tied for No. 22 on bars (9.850).

Junior Kaitlyn Schou (Orlando, Fla.) is tied for No. 12 on beam (9.875), marking the first time in her career that she has held a national ranking.

Senior Nikole Addison (Fort Myers, Fla.) returns to the floor rankings, coming in a tie for No. 15 (9.875). She spent all but one week in 2017 ranked in the top 25 on floor.

The Road to Nationals rankings are released every Monday throughout the season and are determined by average score for the first half of the season. Beginning in mid-February, rankings will be calculated by Regional Qualifying Score (RQS).

Denver will host its home opener on Sunday, January 14, against Air Force at 2 p.m. in Magness Arena.
