DU Ranked No. 13 in the Nation

DENVER – The University of Denver women’s gymnastics team continues to hold national rankings overall and on three of the four events in the Road to Nationals rankings released on Monday.

DU is No. 13 as a team with a 195.875 season average following Friday’s quad meet at Boise State. The Pioneers are ranked No. 5 on vault (49.117) despite only competing with five student-athletes on the event in every meet this season. The team is also tied for No. 6 on beam (49.142) and is tied for No. 13 on floor (49.042).

Freshman Lynnzee Brown (Kansas City, Mo.) leads DU in the all-around rankings, coming at No. 14 this week with a 39.333 average. Sophomore Maddie Karr (Stillwater, Minn.) is also ranked in the all-around, tied for No. 25 (39.208).

Brown is tied for No. 20 on vault (9.867) as well. Two DU gymnasts are ranked on beam: junior Kaitlyn Schou (Orlando, Fla.) tied for No. 12 (9.883) and Karr tied for No. 14 (9.875).

The Road to Nationals rankings are released every Monday throughout the season and are determined by average score for the first half of the season. Beginning in mid-February, rankings will be calculated by Regional Qualifying Score (RQS).

Denver begins its three-meet home stand this weekend with Porter Hospital Pink Night in Hamilton Gymnasium on Saturday, January 27, against Utah State.
