DU Ranked No. 15 After Bye Week

March 5, 2018

DENVER – After not competing last week, the University of Denver women’s gymnastics team is No. 15 in the Road to Nationals rankings released on Monday.

Because DU has not competed since February 23, the team’s Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) remains unchanged from last week’s rankings (196.360). RQS is calculated with the team’s six highest scores of the season, at least three of which must be from away meets. The high score is eliminated, and the five remaining scores are averaged.

DENVER’S RQS
196.800 – Home
196.750 – Home
196.725 – Home
196.575 – Away
195.975 – Away
195.775 – Away
RQS: 196.360

DU continues to hold rankings on three events: No. 9 on vault (49.175), No. 16 on floor (49.230) and No. 19 on beam (49.105).

Sophomore Maddie Karr (Stillwater, Minn.) holds top 25 rankings in the all-around and on three events including her tie for No. 7 (39.535) in the all-around. She is also No. 14 on vault (9.890), tied for No. 14 on floor (9.905) and tied for No. 17 on bars (9.895).

Junior Kaitlyn Schou (Orlando, Fla.) is again ranked on beam this week, sitting in a tie for No. 17 (9.895).

Denver will have two chances to improve its RQS this week, beginning with the team’s final home meet of the season tonight, March 5, against Southern Utah at 7 p.m. in Hamilton Gymnasium. DU will then travel to No. 1 Oklahoma for a top-15 quad meet with No. Arkansas and No. 12 Arizona State on Friday. Scores from both meets will be included in next week’s rankings.
