Brown Wins Big 12 Newcomer of the Week

March 12, 2018

DENVER – University of Denver freshman Lynnzee Brown (Kansas City, Mo.) was named the Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Brown competed on bars and beam for DU on Friday night at Oklahoma with consistent performances on both events. She scored a 9.800 on beam and added a 9.850 on bars, which is only .025 off her career high and her third-straight score of 9.850 or higher on the event in her return from injury.

Her bars score contributed to Denver’s 49.400 on the event, which ties the second-highest score in program history. Overall, DU finished with a 196.525 to finish second in Friday’s meet that featured four teams ranked inside the top 15 in the nation.

This is the second Big 12 weekly award of Brown’s career following her Newcomer of the Week nod for the week of January 8.

No. 15 Denver travels to No. 11 Arkansas with fellow Big 12 team Iowa State on Friday, March 16, for the team’s final regular season meet before the 2018 Big 12 Championship on March 24.
