Five DU Gymnasts Named Scholastic All-Americans

Lomonte earned special recognition for her 4.0 GPA.

DENVER -- Five Pioneer gymnasts earned scholastic all-American honors from the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W), the association announced Monday.

Denver's 2017 NACGC/W Scholastic All-Americans are:

Nikole Addison (Fort Myers, Fla.): 3.50 GPA, psychology major
Grace Broadhurst (Broomfield, Colo.): 3.67 GPA, biological sciences major
Rachel Fielitz (Walden, N.Y.): 3.90 GPA, psychology major
Leah Lomonte (Katy, Texas): 4.00 GPA, psychology major
Julia Ross (Henderson, Nev.): 3.74 GPA, journalism studies major

Lomonte, the Big 12 Gymnastics Scholar-Athlete of the Year, was recognized for her 4.0 GPA for the 2016-17 academic year. This is Lomonte's fourth career NACGC/W Scholastic All-American honor.

Ross, too, repeated as an academic All-American, doing so for the third time. Addison, Broadhurst and Fielitz earned honors for the first time in their careers.

To be eligible for NACGC/W scholastic honors, student-athletes must achieve a GPA of 3.500 or higher for the 2016-17 academic year or cumulative for their time at DU.
