Dec. 11, 2014

Denver - The University of Denver women's gymnastics team will host its annual Crimson and Gold Gymboree/Intrasquad meet on Saturday night at 6 p.m. in Hamilton Gymnasium. Admission is free for all fans and is the first opportunity to the see the 2015 team in action.

Saturday's event will feature photo opportunities and autographs with the team, as well as contests and prizes for fans.

The Pioneers finished the 2014 season ranked No. 18 in the nation and won the inaugural Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference title. The 2015 season will feature home meets against 2014 co-NCAA National Champion Oklahoma, and Georgia, which finished No. 5 last season.

Head coach Melissa Kutcher-Rinehart leads the Pioneers for her 17th season in 2015. The squad returns Nina McGee (Cincinnati, Ohio), who finished fourth on bars and floor at the 2014 Regionals. Seniors Ellese Sakai-Hart (Aptos, Calif.) and Alix Angelopulo (Burlingame, Calif.) will join McGee. Saturday's intrasquad will be fans' first chance to meet DU's three freshmen: Nikole Addison (Lehigh Acres, Fla.), Brittany Franklin (Carrollton, Texas) and Claire Hammen (Loveland, Colo.).

The gymnastics team joins the University of Denver Division of Athletics and Recreation in support of the Care 4 Colorado Toy Drive to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver. Fans are encouraged to donate new, unwrapped toys to Saturday's event. Toy drop offs will be at each of the Ritchie Center's three entrances throughout the evening.
