DU Defeats Regis 19-5 to Open Fall Schedule

Oct. 7, 2017

DENVER— The University of Denver women’s lacrosse team opened up fall ball Saturday morning with a commanding 19-5 win over Regis at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.

“I thought today was a great day to work through the new rules against another team,” said head coach Liza Kelly. “It is a great place to start.”

Nine different Pioneers recorded at least one goal in the game, with a team-high four goals from senior attacker Caitlin DerryJulia Feiss and Kendra Lanuza each had a hat trick for Denver.

The Pioneers got the scoring started early, with Riley Eggeman getting the first goal of the game at 26:56.  DU would go up 3-0 with goals from Feiss and Lanuza before Regis got on the board at 21:25.  Less than 30 seconds later, Denver answered with a goal of its own by Derry.  DU added 10 more goals with Feiss, Derry (three goals), Eggeman, Lanuza, Caroline Wiseman, Eliza Radochonski (twice), and Bea Behrins each tallying goals, and led 14-3 at the half.

Denver scored five goals in the second half with Lanuza, Audrey Schreck, Quintin Hoch-Bullen, Wiseman and Feiss finding the back of the net.

Radochonski led the team with three assists, while Wiseman, Elizabeth Behrins, Hannah Liddy, Hoch-Bullen, and (Bea) Behrins each had one.

Both Carson Gregg and Amelia Cole saw time at goalie, each making spectacular saves to keep the Rangers off the board throughout the contest.

UP NEXT:  The Pioneers are on the road next weekend as they travel to Princeton, N.J., and Baltimore, Md., for two days of games.   DU hosts Colorado on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 3:30 p.m. MT, before closing out the fall schedule with the Alumnae game on Friday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.
