Denver Receiving Votes in IWLCA Preseason Poll
Pioneers open the season against No. 23 Stanford on Feb. 10 at Peter Barton
Jan. 29, 2018
DENVER— The University of Denver women’s lacrosse team will begin the 2018 lacrosse season just outside of the top 25 of the IWLCA Division I Preseason Poll.
However, they were the only team to receive votes that wasn’t ranked, and will have an opportunity to make an argument for being ranked in the next poll (Feb. 19), as the Pioneers open the season at home against No. 23 ranked Stanford.
The Cardinal are one of four preseason ranked teams that the Crimson and Gold will matchup against this season, including three which will take place at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
Also ranked were Stony Brook (Pioneers will play them in N.Y. on Feb. 25), who enters the season second, BIG EAST opponent Florida (April 21) ranked fifth and Colorado (March 29) ranked 17.

Last season, the Pioneers started the season unranked, but quickly worked their way into the rankings at tied for 15 after getting out to a 4-0 start with wins over [12/12] Stanford and [18/RV] Louisville. DU moved as high as 13 on four separate weeks in 2017.
