Carson Gregg has been named the BIG EAST Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

In her first career start, the sophomore goalkeeper had a career game, recording 16 saves and a team-high three ground balls, while playing the entire 60 minutes in the net in the Pioneers’ 12-9 victory over [23/RV] Stanford.

The Severna Park, Md., native had a career-high save percentage of .640, and held the Cardinal the final 18:50 of regulation without a goal.  The Cardinal were 0-11 in free-position shots in the game, with Gregg making several key saves late in the game to maintain Denver’s two-goal lead.

It is the first weekly conference honor in Gregg’s career.

UP NEXT:  The Pioneers play their first away game of the season as they travel to play Louisville on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 11 a.m. MT.  Denver’s next home game is Feb. 23 at noon against San Diego State.
