Pioneers Climb into Top 15 in Latest Polls

Feb. 20, 2017

IWLCA Poll | Cascade Media Poll | US LAX Magazine Rankings

DENVER - After another week where the University of Denver women’s lacrosse program bested a top-20 team in the nation, the Pioneers made their triumphant return to the IWLCA Coaches Poll, coming in at No. 15, and climbed up the ladder in the Cascade Media Poll, coming in at No. 14. DU also moved up the US Lacrosse Magazine rankings, coming in at No. 15.

The last time the Crimson and Gold were ranked in both polls was the week of February 23, 2015, coming in at No. 20 in the coaches’ poll and tied for No. 19 in the media poll before a home loss to Louisville knocked the Pioneers out of the top 20. This time, it was Denver besting the Cardinals to catapult into the top 15 in both rankings.

DU was last ranked in the top 15 at the end of the 2013 season, coming in at No. 16 in the coaches’ poll and No. 15 in the media poll following a loss to No. 4 Florida in the NCAA Tournament Second Round.

The Pioneers will remain at home this week, hosting UC Davis on Friday, Feb. 24, with opening draw set for 1 p.m. MT at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
