Feiss Named BIG EAST Attacker of the Week

DENVER— After a stellar performance against the Niagara Purple Eagles, the conference has named Julia Feiss the BIG EAST Attacker of the Week.

It is the first weekly conference honor in Feiss’ career and the third for the Pioneers this season. 

The junior attacker had a career-high eight goals and added one assist in the 21-10 victory on Saturday, going 2-2 in free-position shots and 8-8 on shots on goal.  She had a total of nine shots in the contest. Her eight goals also tied a program record last achieved by Karen Morton on March 18, 2009 against Stony Brook.

On the week, Feiss had a team-high nine goals and 11 points, shooting 11 shots on goal with a .786 shots on goal percentage (11-14) and a team-high shooting percentage of .643. The Baltimore, Md., native went 3-4 on the week in free-position shots.  She was also credited with one draw control, which occurred in the game against Virginia Tech.

This season, Feiss leads the team with 18 goals and 21 points, with 28 shots on goal (.824 sog %). She is 8-11 on free-position shots and has started in all six games for the Pioneers.

UP NEXT:  The Pioneers begin BIG EAST competition this weekend as they travel to Temple for a Sunday matchup.  The start time is 11 a.m. MT.
