Denver Men's Lacrosse Alum Joins Women's Lacrosse Staff

Sept. 27, 2016

DENVER – No stranger to the lacrosse scene in the Mile High City, Terry Ellis will join the University of Denver women’s lacrosse coaching staff for the upcoming season.

“Terry’s experiences, both competing for a national championship at DU and playing on various professional teams, brings invaluable knowledge to our coaching staff,” said head coach Liza Kelly. “He knows what it takes to win at all levels and is passionate about the University of Denver and both lacrosse programs.”

Ellis comes to the Pioneers after a successful career in the Crimson and Gold, graduating in 2014 after finishing as a two-time member of the conference championship team and appearing in three NCAA championship weekends.

“Having been a supporter of the women’s program, it is great learning the differences in the game and how I can apply my previous knowledge of men’s lacrosse into the women’s game,” said Ellis.

The St. Louis, Mo., native played in 51 games for Denver in his four years, totaling 24 groundballs, 19 caused turnovers and two assists that both came in the 2013 campaign. His best game came in then-No. 3 Denver’s 11-10 double-overtime win over Belalrmine on April 7, 2013, where he caused four turnovers and tallied two groundballs.

Ellis' severeral stints in professional lacrosse include having been a member of the 2014 MLL champion Denver Outlaws, and he was also a member of the Colorado Mammoth, the Chesapeake Bayhawks and the Coquitlam Senior A Adanacs.

The former midfield specialist for the Pioneers is currently pursuing his master’s degree at DU in global finance, trade and economic integration.

Denver will open the fall season with its Crimson and Gold scrimmage on October 1 at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium, starting at 12 p.m. MT.
