SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The University of Denver women’s soccer team got off 11 shots but was unable to find the back of the net, as the Pioneers fell to Cal Poly 1-0 on Thursday night at Alex G. Spanos Stadium.

Cal Poly took the lead in the 34th minute through McKenzie Flood’s first goal of the season, as she slotted her strike home from nine yards on the assist from Ashley Kirchick.

Sophomore Brittany Wilson (Littleton, Colo.) made five saves to keep the Pioneers in the match.

Denver put just four of its 11 attempts on target, and did not create a corner kick for the first time since October 30, 2015, at Omaha.

UP NEXT: Denver will stay on the road to cap off its second road trip of the regular season, when the Pioneers head to UC Santa Barbara Sunday at 1 p.m. MT.
