SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The University of Denver women’s soccer team allowed a pair of goals in each half to UC Santa Barbara who earned a 4-0 home victory on Sunday afternoon at Harder Stadium.

UC Santa Barbara grabbed the lead in the 27th minute when Shaelan Murison curled a free kick into the right side of the net from 20 yards out to score her first goal of the season. The home side was able to double its advantage in the 44th minute on Christine Maurer’s second of the 2017 campaign. Julia Kappes laid the ball off to Maurer at the top left corner of the box, and Maurer sent a rocket into the upper corner to beat Denver goalkeeper Brittany Wilson (Littleton, Colo.).

Maurer got back on the scoresheet in the 70th minute off Lynsee Voss’ first assist of the match, lofting a through ball into the upper left corner from the right side of the penalty area.

Murison finished off UCSB’s second brace of the afternoon in the 89th minute, netting her second of the campaign from 24 yards out a minute shy of the final whistle.

UCSB outshot Denver 22-2 in the match, forcing Wilson into seven saves in the match in addition to the home side’s four tallies. Santa Barbara also took six of the match’s seven corner kicks.
