DENVER – The University of Denver women’s soccer team has added former Miami (Ohio) midfielder Haley Paez (Winnetka, Ill.) to its 2018 roster, 26th-year head coach Jeff Hooker announced on Wednesday.

Paez played in 13 matches in her freshman season at the Mid-American Conference school in 2017, making two starts in the Redhawks’ midfield, and seeing 324 minutes of action. Prior to her freshman year at Miami, Paez played five years for FC United, captaining the side to two Illinois State Cups. Paez also spent 2011-13 on the Illinois ODP Team. Following her three-year stint with FC United, Paez played her club soccer for Sockers FC.

In her high school career, Paez guided New Trier High School to back-to-back IHSA State Cups in 2014 and 2015, leading the team in assists during her sophomore year. Paez spent the 2016 campaign with the IMG Academy as her MVP season led the program to the 2016 Florida State Cup. In 2017, Paez returned to New Trier High School, leading the team to a runner-up finish in the 2017 Illinois State Cup.

Earlier this offseason, Hooker added 10 freshmen in February before welcoming Anna Schrader to the program in April, bringing the total of newcomers to 12 with the addition of Paez.
