Dancy and Wilson Earn Summit League Player of the Week Honors

ELMHURST, Ill. (Summit League) – Denver forward Jessie Dancy garnered The Summit League Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award, while goalkeeper Brittany Wilson earned the Defensive Player of the Week honor. The duo led Denver to a pair of 1–0 overtime wins and a perfect start in the Colorado Cup, a program first since the six-team expansion in 2014. The awards mark the first weekly honors of the season. 


 

 

Jessie Dancy, DENVER

  • Earned her first career Player of the Week accolade
  • Scored the game-winning goal in Friday’s overtime thriller over Air Force, securing Denver’s first win in the Colorado Cup since 2014
  • Netted the third goal of her career
  • Fired seven shots on the weekend, with three on goal

Also nominated: Jessica Schoenfeldt, Fort Wayne; Bridget Schuler, Western Illinois; Leah Manuleleua, South Dakota State; Jordan Langebartels, Oral Roberts

This is the first award of the 2017 season. 

Brittany Wilson, DENVER

  • Earned her first career Player of the Week accolade
  • Posted two shutouts with seven saves on the weekend to ensure overtime Denver wins
  • Matched her 2016 clean sheet mark (2)
  • Reigning Summit League Goalkeeper of the Year

Also nominated: Paige Vincent, Oral Roberts

This is the first award of the 2017 season.

UP NEXT:
Denver will return home for a pair of home matches next weekend at Pioneer Field at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium. The Pioneers host UC Riverside on Friday (5 p.m. MT/Altitude 2) in the first game of a double header with the men’s program. Denver will stay at home on Sunday to take on Albany at noon on Altitude.
