Denver Defeats BYU, 5-2

The University of Denver Pioneers (5-2, 0-0) defeated BYU, 5-2, on Friday at the Indoor Tennis Courts on BYU’s campus.

Denver earned five victories on the singles courts earn its third consecutive victory ahead of its matchup at Utah on Saturday, Feb. 17.

BYU secured the first point of the match, earning wins at No 2 and No. 3 doubles before Denver’s Julia O’Loughlin and Hada Chang finished their match in the No. 1 spot. Despite the team point being decided on the doubles courts, O’Loughlin and Chang completed their match to win, 7-5. 

On the singles courts, O’Loughlin (No. 1), Bianca Mok (No. 2), Arisha Ladhani (No. 3), Chang (No. 4) and Camille Verden-Anderson (No. 6) each won to propel the Pioneers past BYU. O’Loughlin and Mok’s matches marked the only sweeps, while every other match required a third set. Ladhani and Verden-Anderson both rebounded with wins after dropping the first set.



Denver is set to return to the courts on Saturday, Feb. 17 against Utah at 11 a.m. MT.
