The No. 44 DU Pioneers captured their second-ever team win in the NCAA Tournament on Friday morning, coming from behind to upset the No. 25 USC Trojans by a score of 4-2 at the McLeod Tennis Center in Lubbock, Texas and extend their winning streak to 11 matches in dramatic fashion. Denver’s only previous NCAA Tournament win came in 2008 vs. Long Beach State. The Crimson & Gold (19-6) will now face No. 7 Texas Tech on Saturday (1pm CT/12pm MT) with a berth in the Sweet 16 on the line.

After falling behind 0-2 to the Trojans, RS-Soph. Arisha Ladhani defeated USC’s Madison Westby 2 & 1 to get her team on the board. Sr. co-captain and Summit League Player of the Year Maureen Slattery then captured a 2 & 2 singles victory to tie things up at two apiece. Slattery’s classmate Sonja Radosevic then gave the Pioneers their first lead of the day, defeating her opponent 4 & 4 to put DU up 3-2.

Denver’s victory was clinched by sophomore Bianca Mok, who earned a thrilling comeback (2-6, 6-4, 7-6) win over Rianna Valdes to secure the first-ever NCAA Tournament W by a Summit League representative. Click HERE to view complete scoring from Friday’s match.
