Julia O’Loughlin Named Summit League Player of the Week

Feb. 27, 2018

Julia O’Loughlin has been named Summit League Player of the Week for her performance from Feb. 20-26, the Summit League announced on Tuesday.

O’Loughlin collects the honor after posting a No. 1 singles win against Yale’s Samantha Martinelli (6-0, 2-6, 7-5) and a 2-0 record at No. 1 doubles (with partner Bianca Mok) against tandems from Utah and Yale. The Highland Beach, Fla. native helped the Pioneers to sweeps against Utah and Yale at the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic and was the recipient of the tournament’s sportsmanship award.

O’Loughlin, a senior co-captain, has won three consecutive Summit League Player of the Week awards, becoming the first men’s or women’s player to reach the accomplishment. This marks the ninth career Player of the Week honor for O’Loughlin (tied for 3rd-most in Summit League history) and fourth this season (tied for 2nd-most in Summit League history). She has an 8-1 singles record and a 7-2 doubles mark this season. O'Loughlin is ranked No. 43 in singles and No. 37 in doubles (with Bianca Mok) by the International Tennis Association (ITA).
