Women's Tennis Adds Tatum Burger for 2018-19

DENVER -- The University of Denver women's tennis head coach Christian Thompson announced the signing of one player for the upcoming 2018-19 season on Monday. Tatuum Burger (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) has signed her national letter of intent to continue both her academic and athletic career with the Pioneers.

Burger will join the Crimson and Gold out of Steamboat Springs and Steamboat Springs High School. The 5-foot-4 tennis star went undefeated as a freshman at Steamboat Springs, claiming the 2015 state title. The soon-to-be Pioneer also finished second at Regionals for cross country while qualifying for state. 

Thompson on Burger:

"We have identified a special kid in Tatum and we know she is a great for the University of Denver and our tennis program. We immediately recognized a tough, competitive young woman who is surrounded by an incredible family. She is motivated by the environment here and has the goods to be an outstanding college tennis player and beyond."   

Why Burger picked Denver:

"I chose DU because I loved the coaches and I think they will take me the farthest in tennis."

Student-Athlete Alumni Giving Challenge:

In 2017-18, the University of Denver is holding an alumni giving challenge in an effort to increase student-athlete alumni participation in the Denver Athletics Annual Fund. The sport program with the highest percentage of alumni participation will receive an additional $10,000 of support through the generosity of an anonymous donor.
