Pioneer Movement | Summit League Release | Denver Ticket Office DENVER- Before the volleyball season started, Becca Latham was named to the Summit League "Players to Watch" list. That premonition proved to be accurate, and now Latham has been recognized as the Summit League Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday. The Austin, Texas, native earned her first-career Player of the Week honor after registering 25 kills (4.17 kills per set), and hitting .457 (25-4-46). She led the Pioneers in kills in the matches against Western Illinois and South Dakota, with 11 and 14, respectively. Against South Dakota, Latham hit .636 overall (14-0-22), and scored 16 points for Denver, while against Western Illinois she hit .292 (11-4-24) and recorded 13 points. Her 29 points on the weekend also paced the Pioneers, averaging 4.83 points per set. Latham's .636 hitting percentage against the Coyotes was also the best performance from an outside hitter from a Summit League athlete this season. Denver went 2-0 on the week, sweeping both the Leathernecks and Coyotes, with Latham starting both matches for the Pioneers and playing in all six sets. DU is now 5-0 in matches that Latham has started, and has outscored the opponents 15 sets to two.
