DENVER— For the second time in three weeks, Becca Latham has been named the Summit League Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league Monday.

The junior outside hitter earned the honor after hitting .522 on the week, with a team-high 28 kills (4.67 k/s).  She started both matches against South Dakota State and North Dakota State and played in all six sets.  Latham hit an impressive .737 (15-1-19) against South Dakota State, surpassing her previous season-high of .636 that she hit against South Dakota on Oct. 15.   She also led the team in total points with 32 (5.33 points per set), with team-highs of 16 points in both matches.

Latham was a force to be reckoned with at the net, not just in kills but also in blocks, leading the team with six total blocks on the week.  She had a team-high four total blocks, two solo blocks and two assisted blocks, in the match against North Dakota State and two assisted blocks against South Dakota State.

The Austin, Texas, native has started in eight matches, including the last five, in which Denver has gone 8-0 and outscored the opponents 24 sets to three. DU is currently on a five-match win streak, four of which Latham had a team-high in kills, and, in each of those matches, resulted in straight-set victories. DU is 14-1 when she records double-digit kills. During Denver’s current five-match win streak, Latham has totaled 64 kills (4.00 kills/set) and is hitting .507.

On the season, Latham leads the team with 246 kills (3.24 k/s) and in hitting percentage at .360, while playing in all 76 sets for the Pioneers this season.  She has scored a team-high 275.5 points thus far, averaging 3.62 points per set.

She is second amongst Summit League players in overall hitting percentage, fifth in kills and points, and fourth in kills per set and points per set.  When it comes to just league matches, Latham leads the league in hitting percentage at .393, is third in points per set (3.94), fourth in points (138.0) and kills per set (3.46) and fifth in kills (121).  She also ranks eighth in the league in league matches in solo blocks with five and ninth in total blocks at 29.

This is the second career Player of the Week award for Latham.

You can see Latham and the Pioneers in action twice this week, as they will be home for the next two matches.  The Crimson and Gold play Oral Roberts on Friday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m., and Omaha on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. These will be the last two home matches of the regular season for DU.  Denver will honor its seven seniors prior to Sunday’s match.
